If you’re looking for a little uplift on this gloomy Thursday afternoon, Bay City gospel powerhouse, the Jones Family Singers is here with a moving cover of the 1965 Johnny Cash classic “All God’s Children Ain’t Free.” The song was recorded at local producer, Adrian Quesada’s Level One Sound studios as part of his “Live at Level One” covers series.

The band announced the track on Thursday, as they prepare to kick off a Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration Tour. Noting the “impending inauguration,” the band said, “This song is a necessary statement for us to make at this crucial time in our nation’s history,” in a message posted to their Facebook page.

“There’s singers, then there’s good singers, then there’s the Jones Family Singers,” Quesada said in a post on his own Facebook page. “It was quite an honor to have them at Level One Sound for our cover series, taking on a song by Johnny Cash that might even be more relevant in 2017 then it was in ’64.”
